Jones was the winner of the NCAA Indoor Hurdles contest in 2003 as well as 2004. Jones started her career in 2005 after she completed her degree. Jones began training to prepare to pursue a track career that would be successful. She won each of the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track competitions that same year.

Brandt relocated to Cape Town South Africa to Auckland New Zealand at the close of her teen years.
